Rock Music
Words: 1153 / Pages: 5

.... it the name of Rock n' Roll. Record companies distributed records played by whites but composed by blacks. Whites were frustrated because there weren't any white artists, and they didn't want the blacks to be the stars until Bill Haley appeared with his "Rock Around the Clock". In this decade, Elvis Presley introduced a music that was sexual-suggestive, and outraged many adults of that time. In time, he changed the style of the music by adopting a country and western style and became a national hero. By the end of this decade and the start of the next, Rock n' Roll started to decline because it was formula-ridden and it was too sentimental. Teenage a .....

Anti-Vietnam Movement In The U.S.
Words: 2765 / Pages: 11

.... the massive antiwar efforts centered on the colleges, with the students playing leading roles. These teach-ins were mass public demonstrations, usually held in the spring and fall seasons. By 1968, protesters numbered almost seven million with more than half being white youths in the college. The teach- in movement was at first, a gentle approach to the antiwar activity. Although, it faded when the college students went home during the summer of 1965, other types of protest that grew through 1971 soon replaced it. All of these movements captured the attention of the White House, especially when 25,000 people marched on Washington Avenue. And at time .....

Evolution Of Ford Motor Company

.... but he was in no way parsimonious. His salaries did not often exceed the going rate of about $1.90 for Model T production workers for a ten-hour day in 1908. The average salary for production workers increased to around $2.50 by 1913 with a minimum of just $2.34. In October of 1913 a man named John R. Lee, recruited from the Kiem Mills to reform the company’s wage structure, developed an ingenious job-ladder system. This innovative system allowed increased wages for the upper crust portion of the working core. These elite workers had incentives to work their way from the $2.34 minimum to over $4.00 a day. This was a wage increase of 13%! .....

My Darling Clementine - The Ef
Words: 370 / Pages: 2

.... no place in a seriously dramatic fantasy like Batman. It just would not fit. I think My Darling Clementine is different. In this film the noir lighting style was effectively integrated into the story but for a much simpler purpose. Here in Clementine I think it's used merely as a pictorial element. A tool, to enhance a scene here and there with little relevance to the story line. This film did have very elaborate dark scenes but still not enough to put it under the label of noir as a whole. The difference is that here I belive that one of those "bright sunny day" sequences that I mentioned before would not look so out of place in a film like this. I .....

.... not as rich as the church or the patrons of Lippi’s time. Therefore, the artists could not enjoy the protection of this new class for years. Consequently, an artist had to sell pictures in open competition with his rivals on the walls of a salon or an Academy. This competition naturally led to a variety of styles. Some turned to history or exotic arts and others sought new ideas. One of such artists was Dante Gabriel Rosetti he turned against the neo-classical traditions of the Academy and looked for different inspiration. He wrote in 1901 that "an artist, whether painter or writer, ought to be bent upon defining and expressing his own personal .....

Psycho Film Review
Words: 328 / Pages: 2

.... save both time and money. The acting in this movie was well done, but my opinion is that some of Marion's expressions and the appearence that something is wrong were just too aparent. The movie is mainly about a girl who decides to take a little money, gets killed, and her family and friends try to find out what actually happened to her. That is not the only way the plot goes, though. After the introduction of Norman, we realize that something is wrong inside his head. This develops through the end where we find out what is really wrong with him. This isn't really a side plot, just a developing issue. This is an excellent movie from all point .....

.... masters of Europe turned back to classical masters. This period can be distinguished by fine landscales and light and graceful statues. Marco Polo tells of the wonders of China under the first emperors of the Mongol or Yuan Dynasty (1280-1368). The next dynasty, Ming, turned its eyes to the past but failed to achieve and real greatness. Since the comming of the Manchu Dynasty (1644-1911) the art of China has not been outstanding. In architecture China has just one style, which serves for all purposes from temple and palace to public building and private dwelling. The design is well known, being four-sided but not square, built in two se .....

Words: 3475 / Pages: 13

.... of its neighbors was by taking it in the most common, human way, which is through war. However, because the memory of the words of some great US presidents was still strong in the nation's mind, the US government could not just start a war for territorial control. By doing so the US risked being labeled as a hypocrite nation, for the US itself used to be a colony. But the politicians, and the business owners did not give up their domination dreams and silently awaited an opportunity. That opportunity finally came when Spain sent troops to Cuba to stop the second Cuban war for independence. The American people sympathized the Cuban effort for indep .....
