In Hannibal Missouri for example every year Twain's "boyhood years" are celebrated during it's annual Tom Sawyer days. No mention is made that this was a slave holding community. Twain's early experiences here provided him with the material for his anti-racist novels "Adventures of Huckleberry Fin" and "The Tragedy of Pudd'nhead Wilson". Hannibal is a benchmark for the American societys' views of Twain's writing ....
