(This is refuted by various sources, and by the journal of the late Chinese scientist Xu Tangfuti who died before Darwin was born!) He was born in 1809 and lingered till 1882 for a total life span of 71 yea ....

.... species alive today arose from a single original life form through a branching process called "specialization." (Which seems like a very shifty idea.) He set these his theories forth in his book called, "On the Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life" or "The Origin of the Species" for short. After publication of Origin of Species, Darwin continued to write about botany, geology, biology and zoology until his death.
