A dark man, not only because he is black, but also because his whole person is very mysterious. He is mysterious in that he believes there is magic brewing everywhere. With this dark side he is also very outgoing, and not very bright. It is almost too easy for Iago to trick him into believing that Desdemona is unfaithfu .....

.... when Grendel goes into Herot and slashes and kills thirty men, it shows Grendel's great power. Also, there is a great amount of strength during the battle with Beowulf and Grendel's mother. Another ideal portrayed in Beowulf is the right to boast. When the poem talks about Hrothgar's building, that it "…reaches higher toward Heaven then anything That had ever been known to the sons of men…"(6-7), shows Hrothgar's with his riches. Boasting about not needing to use a weapon, Beowulf values to kill Grendel with his bare hands. The biggest amount of boasting in the poem also came from Beowulf when he arrives at Herot. The speaker is telling the one that he/she loves how the feelings have gone from just being infatuated with them to being “nourished” by them. The tone of the poem is hard to describe; it is actually the “lovey dovey” feeling that should come to the reader while reading this poem. The second point is that the character must be good-natured, very brave, has a good reputation and is well respected. As well as this however the tragic hero must have one tragic flaw with in him, in his personality or in his temperament. The tragic flaw cannot be from the outside it must be contained with in him. For if he did not have a tragic flaw he would merely be an ordinary, run of the mill hero. This tragic flaw could be almost anything for example it could be that the character was too greedy that then led him to want too much. .....
