When he was found, he told a story that no one would believe. “He gave such a strange account of himself that he was supposed demented (pg. 1).” So right from the beginning we do not know what to believe. Oedipus, unlike Odysseus in the Odyssey, another Greek work, had no divine influence, yet he still is able to continue for the truth after much hardship. Given all the circumstances, Oedipus still manages to live through to the end without losing composure. Sophocles would definitely honor such a man. Both Oedipus’ life and his kingdom were filled with riddles, paradoxes, and mysteries. Oedipus’ beginning and ending at Thebes both arose from the riddle of the oracle. Without his parent’s confrontation with the oracle, Oedipus would not have been cast away .....

By using these methods, stress is put onto the point that is being made by France and therefore is more explicit to the audience. France also uses loaded verbs to describe Lear¡¦s actions, including ¡§cast¡¨ and ¡§thrown¡¨, to suggest that Lear is being harsh and barb .....

In the hopes of finding freedom and fortune, they left for America, bringing many members of Ona’s family with them. After arriving in America, they are taken to Packingtown to find work. Packingtown is a section of Chicago where the meat packing industry is centralized. They take a tour of the plant, and see the unbelievable efficiency and speed at which hogs and cattle are butchered, cooked, packed, and shipped. In Packingtown, no part of the animal is wasted. When you take a group of friends, or people that hang out together and automatically assume they are all alike, you are stereotyping them. You must consider peoples different personalities and traits to fully understand them and not judge them. Stereotyping is believing one similarity between different people automatically makes them one in the same. There are many reasons why we stereotype each other.
