Imagery In Macbeth
Words: 556 / Pages: 3 .... as the wearer of robes not belonging to him. He is wearing an "undeserved dignity." A crucial point in describing the purpose of clothing in ‘Macbeth’ is the fact that these are not his garments. Therefore, Macbeth is uncomfortable in them because he is continually conscious of the fact that they do not belong to him. In the following passage, the idea constantly recurs that Macbeth’s new honours sit ill upon him, like a loose and badly fitting garment, belonging to someone else:
New honours come upon him,
Like our strange garments, cleave not to their mould,
But with the aid of use.

The second, most important chain of image .....

The Reasons Why Macbeth Is More Guilty By His Actions Then Lady Macbeth Is By Hers
Words: 433 / Pages: 2 .... facts, Macbeth would be found
more guilty than Lady Macbeth.
The very first murder in this story was committed on Duncan. This crime
was planned by both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The actual murder was done by
Macbeth, making him more guilty of the crime. Lady Macbeth just talked
about committing the crime, but she never actually went through with it nor
would she ever, and that is all that counts. Talking about committing the
incident is very different from actually doing it. Lady Macbeth did a
little more than just talk about it though. She also urged Macbeth into
doing it and that is what makes her part of this crime, but she is not as
guilty a .....

His views of sexual misconduct between married men and women being worse
than that between unmarried people probably come from his growing up in a
more modern world. The Puritans probably did distinguish some, but it
wasn't very prominent or apparent. His makes this point clear in the
passage, "Misbehavior among married people was especially serious, as it
was likely to disrupt existing families, which were of course regarded as
the essential foundations of any ordered, virtuous s .....

Suffering In Shakespeare's Plays
Words: 1882 / Pages: 7 .... evil daughters. At the
conclusion of the play, his sanity is restored but he has suffered tremendously

goes through emotional suffering when he must succumb to his daughter's wishes.
Desdemona also goes through emotional suffering when she is accused by Othello
of cheating on him when he is convinced of this by Iago.
In The Tempest, the theme of purification through suffering can
clearly be seen. Prospero, in his long exile from Milan, has more than attoned

A short time later, the court was thrown out, and there were no more

The Puritans were a very proper and dignified society. Dancing was

The Foils Of Hamlet
Words: 761 / Pages: 3 .... and Ophelia’s father. Hamlet and Polonius are both very quick to speak or and lash out in excitement. Both of them have made major mistakes because of this unwanted trait. Hamlet has, on many occasions, spoken too quickly or acted out of rage or ignorance and hurt himself and others. When Polonius spies on Hamlet and the Queen, Hamlet thinks that it is the king who is spying behind the curtain, and without knowing who it really is he stabs Polonius and kills him. Polonius also has the same problem, but with much tamer results. Polonius usually ends up just making himself sound like a babbling fool by not thinking things out first. He never re .....

The “angel” on one of his shoulders is telling him how kind this male

The Missing Dialogue In Antigone
Words: 1024 / Pages: 4 .... to
make is a political one. The absence of Antigone and Haimon speaking alone
together adds to this political atmosphere and does not inject the play with a
question of romantic love and/or loyalty. Family bonds and loyalty are the
crucial issues instead.
The central question of this play is a political one. What should have
more power within a society, the divine laws of the gods or the laws of the land
and the mortal rulers? Antigone is a representation of the divine laws of the
gods, and she remains steadfast to her beliefs that the wishes of the gods
should overpower the wishes of the king. Creon, on the other hand, is the
representation o .....
